Ardal goes West

Stage debut for Father Ted star

Ardal O'Hanlon is to make his West End debut in in a new stage comedy this autumn.

The Father Ted star will take the lead role in See U Next Tuesday, opposite Nigel Havers.

It is an adaptation of the award-winning French play Le Diner De Cons, which also became a successful film across the Channel.

The plot revolves around a wealthy Parisian publisher who each week invites the most idiotic person he can find round for dinner, so his well-heeled friends can mock them.

O'Hanlon plays the foolish Francois, a tax accountant whose only passion in life stems from matchstick models.

The play - which was originally presented at Dublin's Gate Theatre last year - opens at the Richmond Theatre from August 28, then Theatre Royal Brighton from September 8, before transferring to the Albery Theatre on September 17.
