Comic clocked at 113mph

Rik Mayall has been banned from driving for three months and fined £1,000 after being caught speeding at 113mph

He was driving his silver Mercedes on the M5 near Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, in April when he was caught by a speed gun

The 45-year-old admitted the offence last month, and was sentenced today.

A statement taken when he was stopped was read out to Weston-super-Mare magistrates.

It said: "I accept what the police officer said and I was not concentrating enough and I thank him for the warning and I will not do it again."

Mayall suffered serious head injuries in 1998 when he fell off his quad bike at his farm in Devon.
