Comics turn designers for charity

Unique T-shirts designed by Johnny Vegas, Ricky Gervais, Rik Mayall and other comedy stars are being auctioned off for charity.

The internet sale, on ebay, will raise money for WDCS, which campaigns to save whales and dolphins.

Other comedians taking part include Dom Joly, Graham Norton and Adrian Edmondson.

Signed memorabilia has been donated by other stars, including John Cleese, Michael Palin and the cast of The News Huddlines..

Bidding levels for the personally-designed T-shirts provide a unique insight into the popularity of the stars.

Most of the comics' efforts are currently standing at around £20-25.

Geri Halliwell's design is the priciest, with bidding at £46, but Rik Mayall's is next, at £41.

T-shirts from Jonathan Ross, Meera Syal and Gimme Gimme Gimme writer Jonathan Harvey have attracted no bids at all,
