Coupling comes apart

Problems hit sitcom's US remake

The American version of Coupling has hit problems.

Actor Breckin Meyer has been dropped as one of the sitcom's six leads - and more cast changes have been described as "a possibility".

Producers are also reshooting the pilot episode of the British export, CNN reports, as the original did not come up to scratch.

Two of the original writers, Deborah Kaplan and Harry Elfont, have also left the show - and a new writer-executive producer is expected to join the project soon.

The turmoil around the show will disappoint America's NBC network, which saw Coupling as a possible replacement when its biggest ratings-grabber, Friends, comes to an end.
