Rob Brydon will be taking his Marion And Geoff stage show to the Edinburgh Festival.

His confrimation, the first show to be announced for this year's festival, came during a BBC webchat after the first episode in the new series was broadcast on BBC2 on Wednesday night.

And he said further dates may be added to his tour, which kicks off on March 6. Click here for dates.

Brydon added that US broadcasters had their eye on the TV show.

"There is some kind of interest," he said. "It went out on BBC America and got a good response."

American networks have recently been plundering British comedy successes, such as The Kumars At Number 42, The Office and Coupling.

Brydon further revealed that he was asked to take part in a celebrity boxing bout - a series the BBC has now dropped over fears from the sport's authorities - "but politely declined".
