Shakespeare venue's first comedy shows

The home of the Royal Shakespeare Company is to open its doors to stand-up comedy for the first time.

Bill Bailey (pictured), Rhona Cameron and Mark Thomas are among those appearing at Stratford-upon-Avon's Royal Shakespeare and Swan Theatres next month.

The venues are hosting a seven-day event called Week With Laughter, starting on February 23, that also features Daniel Kitson, Ross Noble, Richard Herring and The Comedy Store Players.

Most performance are at The Swan, which offers theatre in the round. All the venues are soon to be the subject of a controversial £100million facelift.
