O'Briain lands radio gig

Dara O'Briain has landed a radio show after impressing BBC bosses at a charity concert.

The Irish comic has been given a one-off programme on BBC London on the strength of his 'electric' performance at a Children In Need comedy night at the Shepherds Bush Empire last week.

O'Briain is a familiar face in Ireland, thanks to TV appearances on the likes of Don't Feed The Gondola's, RTE's attempt at a quiz show in the style of Have I Got News For You.

But he has nothing like that level of fame in the UK, and has never presented a radio show before.

O'Briain's show is on BBC London 94.9FM on Sunday 29 December from 11am to 2pm
