Noble prize winner

Ross scoops two more accolades

Ross Noble has won two more stand-up awards.

Last night he won the Manchester Evening News theatre award for best comedy, beating fellow nominees The Fast Show and John Shuttleworth creator Graham Fellows.

The annual award, which was won by Dave Gorman last year, is handed out to the best show in the city.

This latest accolade comes hot on the heels of another award, from New Zealand.

The New Zealand Comedy Guild this week voted him best international guest, ahead of fellow nominees Janey Godley from Scotland and UK-based Canadian Craig Campbell.

In other categories, Flight of the Conchords won best show; Jeremy Elwood and Brendhan Lovegrove shared best male comedian honours and Michele a'Court was named best female.

Noble dominated the Chortle awards earlier this year, winning in three categories. Details of the 2003 accolades will be announced later this month.
