Deayton's back

Angus to record new BBC show

Angus Deayton is to make a new show for the BBC.

He is to write and star in a new episode of Radio Active, the show that first made his name 20 years ago.

The BBC say the anniversary show will still go ahead despite his dismissal as the host of Have I Got News For You following a spate of newspaper revelations about his private life.

Radio Active, a spoof of commercial local radio, also starred Geoffrey Perkins, Philip Pope, Michael Fenton Stevens and Helen Atkinson Wood

Perkins went on to be a director of independent production house Hat Trick, which makes Have I Got News For You, and later became BBC TV's head of comedy.

The new show will be recorded on December 1 and broadcast on Radio 4 later that month.

In the meantime, the original episodes are being re-run from next Tuesday.
