The unknown stunt man

How new comic landed TV work

An up-and-coming comic has landed a batch of TV work - after a chance encounter at a dinner party.

Danny James is to appear in a forthcoming Channel 4 hidden camera show after one of its producers showed up at his girlfriend's do.

The TV exec, a friend of a friend, got chatting to the young comic and asked for a tape - then called back a few days later to offer him work on the programme.

"It was pure chance," Danny told Chortle. "My girlfriend is Australian, and she had two friends over from back home - this guy was a friend of one of theirs."

Filming on the as-yet untitled programme, which uses hidden camera stunts to observe human reactions to extreme scenarios, started last week.

One scene has already been shot with fellow comics David Ward, Gary Delaney, Henrik Elmer and Patrick Monahan.

A commissioned pilot is being made by Radar, the company behind Banzai, with the rest of the series to follow
