The People's Choice

...but they didn't choose to watch him

Seinfeld co-star Jason Alexander has been nominated for a People's Choice Award - even though his sitcom was axed after just five episodes.

America's ABC network cancelled his show Bob Patterson, about a motivational speaker, because of poor ratings.

Yet in a poll, viewers, who could choose anyone they wanted, nominated him as favourite male performer in a new television series.

The two other nominees in Alexander's category are Scott Bakula, the starship captain on the latest Star Trek series, Enterprise, and Damon Wayans for the sitcom My Wife and Kids.

Comedienne Ellen DeGeneres has also been nominated in the same category for female performers. The others were Kim Delaney for Philly, Jill Hennessy for Crossing Jordan and Reba McEntire for Reba."

Other stars nominated for established shows include Frasier's Kelsey Grammer, Friends star Jennifer Aniston, Ally McBeal actress Calista Flockhart and chat show queen Oprah Winfrey.
