The shortlist for the People's Choice accolade in the British Comedy Awards has been announced.

Shows competing will be One Foot In The Grave, The Royle Family, Coupling, Never Mind The Buzzcocks, Cold Feet, The Frank Skinner Show, So Graham Norton and Trigger Happy TV.

They were all put forward by broadcasters for the viewers' s vote.

In the first round, readers of Heat magazine are invited to call 09013 876 666 to register their favourites.

The list will then be whittled down to four, ready for a phone vote on the night of the awards - December 15.

ITV will broadcast the ceremony, which will be hosted by Jonathan Ross.
