Ruby Wax is to host a big-money, prime-time gameshow on BBC1

The Waiting Game will offer a £30,000 jackpot, the second biggest BBC prize after The Weakest Link's £50,000 fund.

In the game, three couples will compete to hold their nerve. Waiting increases the money on offer, but also the chance of another team stealing the prize.

And partners cannot confer so must trust each other to come up with the answers.

BBC1 controller Lorraine Heggessey has commissioned eight half-hour shows from Hat Trick Productions, makers of Have I Got News For You.
