Hitch-Hiker repeated

Tribute to Douglas Adams

The BBC is to repeat The Hitch-Hikers Guide To The Galaxy as a tribute to its author, Douglas Adams.

The TV show, which ran for six episodes, will be shown again from Monday July 30, at 11.20pm.

An Omnibus Special examining the life and work of Adams, with contributions from the likes of Stephen Fry and Terry Jones, will accompany the reruns. This will be shown on Saturday August 4 and features archive footage of Adams' TV and radio interviews.

The series was conceived by a drunk Adams as he lay on a field, looking up at the stars.

It started life as a radio series in 1978 before transferring to TV in 1981.

Adams died of a heart attack in California in May. He was 49.
