Sayle now on!

Win signed copies of Alexei's memoirs

The second volume of Alexei Sayle's memoirs are released today – and we have ten signed copies to give away.

Thatcher Stole My Trousers covers his pivotal role in the genesis of alternative comedy. It spans the years from being a student at Chelsea Art School to becoming the first compere at the rowdy Comedy Store, demolishing the received wisdom that comedians had to try to be likeable, and on to success with the Young Ones and The Comic Strip.

Thatcher Stole My TrousersThe book chronicles a time when comedy and politics came together in electrifying way and is described as 'a beguiling blend of social history and memoir'.

Sayle discussed the book in particular and the early years of alternative comedy in general in an interview with Stewart Lee that we have been serialising on Chortle this week. Click here to watch the first instalment, then follow the links after each one.

The book is published today by Bloomsbury, priced £16.99 and is available here.

But to stand a chance of winning one of our signed copies, just answer the following question by 11pm on March 22, when the winner will be chosen at random from all correct answers received.

Usual terms and conditions apply.

Good luck!

The question is: Which of these was a novelty hit for Sayle?
