Original Review:
She calls herself "the Cherie Blair of stand-up", thanks to a similar pillar-box mouth. But Lyons' accent, and delivery style, is more Marty Caine - if Marty Caine had been a tattooed lesbian from Brighton, that is.
Her strength is in that delivery: Bold, brash and in command from the second she takes to the stage, her very presence screams "comedian".The audience don't really have a chance.
These talents have given her a racing start on the circuit. But, ironically, her strength might also be her Achilles' heel. Less skillful performers who struggle to hold a room's attention end up slaving over their material, sweating over every word and nuance to squeeze every last drop of comedy out of it.
The cocky Lyons, on the other hand, has things easier; and being able to carry off even the most pedestrian of material is not the best incentive to sharpen the writing.
Hopefully, as she becomes more established, she'll start working outside her comfort zone. She has an almost-fireproof approach - her sheer force of personality carries almost anything off - that should let her tackle more challenging areas without fear. The alternative would be another so-so comic getting away with so-so material, simply because she can.

I've seen Zoe twice recently and she is absolutely fantastic; warm, clever, silly, charming, inventive and above all laugh out loud hilarious. In my opinion, one of the best acts on the circuit.

Saw her in Edinburgh last year and thought she was great, so went to see 'Pop Up Comic' show at TTOM last night. Now at the top of her game - a magnificent performance that went down extremely well with the whole audience - very funny and unusual material, warmly and expertly delivered. All enhanced by hilarious facial expressions and mannerisms - she would make a very good comic actor. I haven't enjoyed a comedy show as much as this in ages.Brilliant fun!

Zoe show at the Edinburgh fringe this year was awesome! Loved every second, and i am seeing it again!!
Dave O\'Malley - 22/12/2010
I have seen Zoe twice and cannot believe how average she is. She is pleasant and amiable, you will her to be funny, but she is genuinely anodyne. Nothing original, quirky, hysterical or even thought provoking in her set. She'll be on Channel 4 within a year.

I seem to be in the minority when discussing the comedic abilities of this girl. She is far from 'original', a word that seems to be flaunted on her comment page - i think it's just so-so material about chavs in town centres, middle class snobs... It's a very tedious viewpoint, i must confess. My theory is that she's the female Rufus Hound, spewing out such obvious material (that's been done by countless others) with the illiberal phrase here and there for the shock appeal. When she leaves the stage, it's like the end of the Wizard of Oz for me - you realise that you've watched the entire show (act) to realise that there's nothing there behind the glitz. If she puts as much effort into material as she does appearance, then she'd be brilliant. Unfortunately she goes for the bleeding obvious, and takes it no further. Lacking material, not stage presence.

Saw Zoe in Derby for the Leicester Comedy fest - she was brilliant. Warm, funny, not afraid to take a dig at herself - refreshing. I found myself totally engrossed in her little world - and some of her jokes are still making me smile. Hope to see a lot more of you Zoe - get on the telly please! Will look out for future gigs, and have been gushing about Zoe to my pals.

Loved her. Fresh, vibrant, spontaneous and funny. Reminded me of a young Victoria Wood and just as good. Held the audience, confident and bold. Chatted to her afterwards, she s really level headed, modest and nice. Hope she does really well.
Angela Seymour - 12/11/2005
Saw Zoe on the funny women on tour last night, she was by far the best act
Emma - 02/11/2005
I saw Zoe at our regular comedy gig at Aberystywth Uni. Female comedians tend to get a bit of cold reception here but Zoe walked on and immediately the crowd seemed to warm to her. She was brilliant, I hope she comes back again next year

Loved her show. Really funny, and would definitely see again.

Hilarious, original material uncannily spinning out of Cherie's mouth. Go see her before she gets much more expensive.
Jacqui - 17/04/2005
I thoroughly enjoyed the quirky humour Zoe displays and feel certain she`ll be very successful.
Tom Bennett - 02/02/2005
I saw Zoe strut out in London last month, and although some of her material has whiskers, she is one of the funniest natural comics I've seen in ages. With a co-writer she could be a huge hit.
Louisa West - 10/01/2005
Saw Zoe last night in Bournemouth. Loved her delivery - very very funny set. True, she could do with some more controversial material, but I think this will come with time. I would love to see her again - and I think she has a very bright future.
Deirdre - 14/12/2004
Zoe performed at a pub in Dulwich last Friday and had the audience eating out of her hand. She was warm and witty and very very funny. I especially liked her jokes about Dulwich being twinned with Narnia and her jokes about speed dating. I thought she was great.
Sue C - 20/05/2004
Zoe was one of the freshest, most vibrant comics I have seen. True, she does cover subjects that have been done before, but with flair and panache. I think she is a star! But most importantly very funny.
Peter Stead - 14/05/2004
I saw Zoe Lyons at her first ever gig at the King's Head and she already looked like a pro. Pacy, aggressive and human and no sexist anti-male material. She deserves to do well.
