Terry Alderton scoops Malcolm Hardee award

Alternative gongs handed out in Edinburgh

Terry Alderton has won the Malcolm Hardee Award for Comic Originality at the  Edinburgh Fringe.

The comedy veteran – and former EastEnders and London’s Burning actor – scooped the price for All Crazy Now, the freeform show he performs with his pal Johnny Spurling.

The award for ‘act most likely to make a million quid’ was awarded to Rob Kemp for his Elvis Dead show, which tells the story of classic horror film The Evil Dead 2 through the songs of The King.

And absurdist Mark Dean Quinn won the Cunning Stunt Award for putting other people’s star ratings on his flyers.

Organiser John Fleming has said this will be the final year of the awards, handed out in honour of the godfather  of alternative comedy, who died in 2005.
