A professional comedian since 1969, he claims to be the only professional act working from a wheelchair, the result of polio he contracted at the age of four. He has toured with Bernard Manning and is a regular at working men's clubs and at Jongleurs. He has performed four consecutive summer seasons at Butlins. |

Cant believe he as died was only talking about Tony yesterday. He was the best act I saw. Sad news I have just read alan wakeling, December 2012 |

I knew Tony not as a comedian but as Tony getting on with his life as only he wanted, despite the physical/mental challenges thrown at him. I salute the man for his courage and determination. My condolences to his family. John, December 2012 |

Great comedian who will sadly be missed. Mallcolm, June 2012 |

Rip Tony - always made me chuckle and audiences at my clubs - hope he's left me one of his many Alton Towers blankets in his will Andy - Jesterlarf, May 2012 |

Sadly Tony has passed away and over many years he has made audiences very happy with his performances. It comes as little surprise that the author of this review didn't put his name to it! Martin Caine, May 2012 |

What planet are some of you on the comic is in his seventies, in a chair for most of his life , i have seen so many standing ovations i have lost count first seeing him when i was 16yr i am now 51, It would not suporize me that you were the very folk that rang the 70 talent show New faces and siad i work with crippels all day long i dont need to see them on my TV when i get home.Or the guy that rang a venue and reported they saw gerrard walking these are the rascite bigorts not Tony Gerrard His charity work is endless and i wish him well for many years to come ukcomedian Adrian Doughty, May 2011 |

So many of you, including your reviewer, have missed the point completely. Gerrad is Jewish for fucks sake and lives in a wheelchair which makes him able to view bigotry and discrimination far better than any white, middle class Guardian reader, student or bedwetting Liberal. No subject matter is out of bounds and the fact is that Gerrad asks genuine questions of both himself and the audience from the background of a time when intolerance was the norm and racism was rife. Just like Frankie Boyle the whole point is to use the offensiveness to make people question the whole subject of taboos and make us laugh at the same time. Mark Taylor, February 2010 |

Foul mouthed and irritating. There was nothing funny about this guy. Yes he pushed the boundaries and for the first 10 mins it was passable humour then it turned into racism and bigotry. Nicola, October 2009 |
