Filming starts on Alan Partridge's comeback

To be entitled This Time With Alan Partridge

Filming has begun today Alan Partridge’s return to the BBC, 15 years after he left the Corporation.

The new show is to be entitled This Time With Alan Partridge,  it has been revealed today, with Steve Coogan’s creation being handed a career lifeline: the chance to stand in (temporarily) as co-host on This Time, an One Show-style evening weekday magazine show.

The show is described as ‘a heady mix of consumer affairs, current affairs, viewer interaction, highbrow interview and lightweight froth; very much the sweet spots for a man whose CV boasts over two decades of weekday local radio’.

Tim Key will be reviving his role as Simon ‘formerly Sidekick Simon’ Denton, with Susannah Fielding, from Joel McHale and Stephen Fry’s US sitcom The Great Indoors will play his female co-presenter Jennie Gresham

Full casting will be announced in due course.

The six half-hour episodes  will be shown on BBC One later this year.

Coogan has written the show with Neil and Rob Gibbons, who also direct. The brothers have been working on Partridge since his revival on Mid Morning Matters.

The producer is Ted Dowd, from Camping and Moone Boy, and the executive producers are Christine Langan and Steve Coogan for Baby Cow. The series was ordered for BBC One by Shane Allen, the corporation’s controller of comedy commissioning.
