BBC audio award for Sarah Keyworth
Sarah Keyworth’s Radio 4 programme exploring gender identity, Are You A Boy Or A Girl? has been named best stand-up show at the BBC Audio Drama Awards.
Also winning commendations at last night’s ceremony at Broadcasting House were Janey Godley’s The C Bomb and Olga Koch’s OK Computer.
Meanwhile, Where To, Mate? was named best sitcom or comedy drama
Devised by performers Jo Enright, Peter Slater, Abdullah Afzal, Nina Gilligan, Andy Salthouse, Keith Carter, Jason Wingard and produced by Carl Cooper the Radio 4 show eavesdroppped on taxi drivers Ben and Bernie as they ferry their passengers around North West England
Also shortlisted were Call Jonathan Pie by Tom Walker and Barunka O’Shaughnessy’s adaptation of Oliver Goldsmith’s 18th century comedy She Stoops to Conquer for BBC Cymru Wales.
Graeme Garden won the lifetime achievement award. He has been a panellist on I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue since its first episode in 1972, having been a member of its sketch show precursor I'm Sorry, I'll Read That Again.
He created the spin-off You'll Have Had Your Tea with Barry Cryer and co-devised the comedy quiz show, The Unbelievable Truth, chaired by David Mitchell, which has run for 29 series.
In the drama categories, Friday Night Dinner’s Mark Heap won best supporting performance for Kafka’s Dick, a Radio 3 adaptation of Alan Bennett’s comic play also starring Toby Jones and Jason Watkins.
