Comic to pen a parenting memoir

Sam Avery's Confessions Of A Learner Parent blog goes into print

Comedian Sam Avery has signed a book deal to write about his parenting experiences.

Avery also publishes a Facebook blog about his trials and tribulations as the father of two young Twins, which will form the basis for his book Confessions Of A Learner Parent.

In a recent post he noted that: ‘My boys shared a womb for eight months but now won't share a drink’; ‘our sofa now has more skid marks than Brands Hatch’ and, ‘Me and my wife now talk about lie-ins like something from a bygone era, like Blockbuster Video or mixtapes.’

Avery signed a deal with Seven Dials, part of the Orion Publishing Group, where editor Emily Barrett said: ‘I am ecstatic to be publishing Sam’s book; not only is he a brilliant writer and absolutely hilarious, his story about his two boys is so relatable and honest – something that his legions of Facebook fans, along with the national and regional press, continually attest to.

‘He is a brilliant addition to the Seven Dials list and the parenting genre in general, and I cannot wait to get his book into the world.’

Avery said: ’In my wildest dreams I never thought that what started off as a simple way of remembering key moments with my kids would evolve into an actual book.

‘When my wife was pregnant I swore I’d never be one of those parents who over-shared stuff about their kids on social media but look at me now! It’s clear that when my kids were born I didn’t just become a parent, I also became a hypocrite.’

The book will be released on October 19, priced £12.99. Click here to preorder.
