I don't know what was up with the reviewer but Phil is great. A bit bizarre maybe but if you want a list of jokes buy a joke book. Let's just hope he brings back the human bowling soon...

Only a reviewer who was most at home with the homogenous, bland and unimaginative would describe Phil Ellis as a 'mixed bag of styles'. The man has one style - Phil Ellis - who, although may be very new and yet to find his voice, is imaginative, charming and engaging. Such a poor review so early in the development of a young comic is well-nigh criminal.

Chortle must have caught him on a bad night. Seen him twice now in a particularly tricky room which was idioted up to the hilt last night and he fared extremely well both times. Loads of front and I love the tortured puns. Phil will be doing just fine in a year or so, perhaps Chortle would care to review him again when the gravitational forces of the M25 allow?

He's great, and hilarious, for a newcomer you can't knock him.

Well I just saw Phil Ellis in Islington and out of nine comics he was by far the best. Very fast-paced and had the audience in hysterics. Yay, he rocks.

At the Comedy Store Gong Show last night Phil was one of only a handful who made it to the end of the 5 minutes in front of what I thought was a particularly harsh crowd. Surprisingly he didn't win the night but he made it to the final three and definitely stood out among the the whole group - most of who I've forgotten already. For a northern comic he seems to adapt to the southern crowd easily and from what I saw he's got a bright future. You sem to be overly harsh of a relative newcomer - give the new kid a break.

I think this review is utter tripe. He is original, utterly hilarious, and has ripped every gig I''ve seen him do. As a relative newcomer the potential he shows is obvious.

Phil is hilarious. His act improves every single time I see him. Yes, there are some weak spots in his material, but he is (by FAR) the most promising act I have ever seen.
