Milton Jones to star in his first panto? Oh no he isn't!

Ambitious production is unexpectedly pulled

Milton Jones’s first panto has been cancelled

The comic had been lined up to play Mr Smee in an arena tour of Peter Pan this December.

However, the show – billed as Britain’s biggest panto and starring Spandau Ballet star Martin Kemp as Captain Hook – has been cancelled for ‘technical reasons’.

The production was to include more than 100 includes circus performers, Irish dancers and also children from local Pauline Quirke academies, as well as an 23ft animatronic crocodile, a life-size galleon sailing around the arena in front of a 10,000-gallon waterfall and the highest human Peter Pan flight ever staged.

The show had been successfully staged last year, and had  been due to visit the Belfast SSE Arena on December 15 and 16, Leeds First Direct Arena on December 21-23 and Manchester Arena on December 28 and 29.

The official website for the production has been taken down, and a statement on the venues’ sites says: ‘The promoters are sorry to announce that all Peter Pan dates have been cancelled due to unforeseen technical reasons.  All tickets purchased through the arena's official ticketing partners will be refunded automatically and customers will be notified by email.’

When his casting was announced in the spring, Jones said: ‘I love the fact it is so huge and something completely different.’
