Original Review:Michael Fabbri is fast earning an enviable reputation as one of the best up-and-coming acts around – becoming sharper and smarter with each passing month. Inventive in his outlook, he has latterly acquired the gig-hardened discipline of hitting punchlines hard and often without allowing this reliable professionalism to compromise his relaxed, slacker persona.
His trick is to play the juvenile buffoon while delivering material with an increasing edge. He starts silly, giving the impression he’s struggling to maintain a grown-up decorum while taking a barely concealed childish glee in his daft observations. He’s even made a few ridiculous props to illustrate one routine, but it’s restrained, and doesn’t seem at all gimmicky.
The suppression of his own exuberance is a highly effective technique, as it makes the audience feel a little naughty in empathy, and so they laugh all the more. It endears this already likeable chap to them, and so a strong rapport is built.
Fabbri then capitalises on this to go into more tasteless and jagged material, all the while maintaining that idiot savant persona. It’s not tasteless for its own sake, rather the product of a mind that sees things rather different from the rest of the world.
That ability, plus an eloquence and charm in expressing it, is what makes the off-kilter and increasingly original Fabbri such an enticing prospect for the future.

Absolutely brilliant closing in Palmers Green recently. Superb writing and able to tag so many jokes from excellent set-ups.
Saw Michael at Crack Comedy Wimbledon last Saturday. Was the best comedian on the night (included some very famous comics), and he had me doubled over with laughter on more than one occasion. This guy deserves to be on TV!
Saw Michael at Woking New Victoria Theatre last night supporting Micky Flanagan. Hubby and I are real comedy groupies and probably go to a comedy gig once a week and have seen nearly 200. We were really impressed with Michael - his set was excellent, possibly one of the best and original acts we've seen and who gave us real belly laughs. Highly recommended! Keep up the good work!
Saw Michael at Woking New Victoria Theatre last night supporting Micky Flanagan. Hubby and I are real comedy groupies and travel far and wide for it. We probably go to a comedy gig once a week and have seen nearly 200 diferent comedians over the last few years. I have to say that we were really impressed with Michael. We genuinely thought his set was excellent - possibly one of the best and original acts we've seen and who gave us real belly laughs! Highly recommended! Keep up the good work!
Saw MF at Komedia in bath last night what a funny bloke best comedian by far
By the far the funniest comic on the bill when we saw him at the glee club in Birmingham (as one heckler pointed out to the poor guy who tried to follow him). Very few people make me laugh out loud but he really had the whole audience howling.
Just seen Michael in Exeter tonight. Brilliant. Had me crying several times. Best comedian by a long way on the night.
Yes, an accomplished intelligent comedian here. However, he does need to lose the rather crass menstruation material. Will blokes never learn? That apart, the best "new comedian" I've seen in a while.
