I only just found out when they aired Room 101 as a tribute. Absolutely gutted at this tragic loss of one of comedy's finest and brilliant artists.

Ed Davis, March 2006

When my wife told me that Linda Smith had died I was dumbstruck. We saw her show in Liverpool a few years back and she stands out as one of the funniest stand-ups we've ever seen. A sad sad loss.

Peter Wilson, March 2006

I'm crying with laughter listening to a collection of her best bits from The News Quiz... especially her Delia Smith impression... and I'll never forget her rendition of "Bob The Builder" to the tune of "Climb Every Mountain"...

Euan Baylis, March 2006

The world of comedy is a little bit duller now, now it has lost a great star

Maic, March 2006

Have just heard the terrible news of the death of Linda Smith, She was one of the funniest and clever women I have ever known. Some of her observations on people and life have had me laughing for days afterwards, especially any references to Erith having a suicide pact with Dagenham where I live. So many condolences to her partner and family.. no one will forget this wonderful lady

S Godfrey, March 2006

Linda Smith was the funniest person I have ever heard. She simply had a brilliant sense of humour and that is what funny people should have! Other so called "comedians" should sit back quietly and observe what Linda had to offer. She was unique, as was her brand of humour and outlook on life and I will miss her terribly. It was characteristic of Linda that she never wanted anyone to know of her illness, something that many so called "celebrities" and "personalities" should learn from. So,so long Linda; you were the best in the world and you will never be replaced. That is the best epitaph I can give you

Gerard, March 2006

We used to listen to the News Quiz (through very bad reception) on long wave for many years in Luxembourg. Having recently moved to Australia, we were happy to be able to listen via the internet. The CD's I still listen to whilst doing the ironing (the only way I could get through it!) Linda made us laugh when everything in the world was so wrong. I feel at a loss to know what else to say. I don't believe in God, so I just hope that wherever you are Linda, you are still laughing.
