I was shocked to hear of Linda Smith's death yesterday. I shall miss her voice, her political sharpness, her wisdom and her engaging grumpiness. I am moved by her dignity and courage in the face of her illness.

Living in America, I just recently became aware of Linda Smith through the News Quiz and BBC7's replaying of her radio series. Whenever I heard she was going to be on the panel of the News Quiz, I knew there would be sharp, spot-on quips from her. Alas her body of work is now closed.
