I'm shocked to hear of her death. A great loss to British comedy. She was very gifted, her riffs were spot on, and she had an superb sense of timing and of what makes our world ridiculous. Most of all, she made me laugh - she was a treat. I shall miss her. John O'Byrne, March 2006 |

What a huge loss. I'm absolutely stunned to hear of Lindas passing. She was without doubt the funniest woman in her field and will be sorely missed. NJ, March 2006 |

Very sad loss to British comedy. Linda Smith's modest deadpan persona and witty observations were a brilliant combination. Wish I'd heard her more. Sad we don't always appreciate what we've got till its gone. Her quiet way of passing, surrounded by family and friends, was in character. Charlie Pottins, March 2006 |

What sad news ! A unique talent who made made the world a brighter place. Her humour was so acute and always funny. She will be sadly missed by us all. My condolences to her family and friends. Pete Pennington, March 2006 |

My partner John & I had to read the report of Linda's death several times over yesterday and still cannot believe she has died. We feel like we've both lost a friend as we were regular listeners to the News Quiz and I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue, in fact any show she appeared in we tuned in to she was a joy and we have lost a great deal. Chrisine Moss, March 2006 |

Desperately sad news about Linda's death. Radio 4 at 6.30 will never be the same. I saw her on tour, a few years back, and it's a shock to learn she was ill then. She was a joy onstage, as she wason the radio, and will be very much missed. Chris, March 2006 |

Absolutely stunned to learn of her death today. Will be much missed. G Brown, February 2006 |
