I always look forward to a radio show when I know Linda's on. Her quirky take on life brightens my life and I feel shocked she's gone from us so quickly. People who can make you laugh when you don't feel like it are truly gifted. I will miss her in spades.

Penny Rowe, March 2006

Linda Smith - word smith - a brilliant wit who's now making them roll in the celestial aisles ...

Tony Pristavec, March 2006

I feel terrible as I sort of knew her from 'Have I Got News For You' but became very attached to her whilst watching QI. What a very brave lady, she was a joy to watch

Ali, March 2006

I was deeply saddened that this brilliant, perceptive, and amazingly funny lady had been taken from us. She was highly creative in her humour, and was always sharply focussed on the ironies and absurd parts of life today. A rich part of my enjoyment of life has gone forever. My condolences to all who were lucky enough to know her

Les Curtis, March 2006

A very clever, funny lady. So sad to hear she's died so young.

Bev, March 2006

So sad that such a brilliant intellect and genuinely funny woman has been taken away far too early. She made me think, made me laugh, made me wish I could be more like her and she was unique. I shall miss her so much.

Trudi Eadington, March 2006

Bloody sad. Didn't even know she was ill, and we've lost a wonderful and culturally important person. Best wishes to all who love her.

Mark Harwood, March 2006

Linda Smith was the funniest woman on T.V. or radio, and I was shocked to hear news of her death being anounced on Radio 4. I kept hoping that it was a different Linda Smith - some ninety year old actress who died peacefully in her sleep, not young, extremely witty Linda Smith. It's unbelievable.

Angela, March 2006
