A real loss. I just loved her humour. My thoughts are with her family. One of a kind

Matthew Hugh Goldsmith, April 2006

She was and always will be a comic genius. She always had me in stiches and I will miss her satirical outlook loads. A great loss to comedy talent in Britain

Hannah Cook, April 2006

Linda Smith was not simply a brilliant comic and thinker, she was a brilliant female comic and thinker. The loss of such an inspiration is a very real shame. The way she reduced pomposity to rubble was breaktaking;I got the feeling she was capable of taking on the world and making a bit of a difference.

Roz McCormick, April 2006

My listening on the radio will never be the same now that such a talented person has been taken from us too soon. My heart goes out to her family and friends – among whom I count myself one after she come into my home via to radio

Carol Williams, April 2006

I can't believe she's no longer with us. I will truly miss her.

Freddie, March 2006

I only heard Linda had died when they showed the Room 101 episode. This was the only time I saw Linda on television and I think it was one of the funniest things I have ever seen. Even after only seeing her once I feel such a sense of loss at her death.

Anne McGinn, March 2006

Only today learned of the news of Linda Smith's death, and the more I read the more it upsets me. I loved her in everything in which she appeared; always the highlight of any given show. Simply, she was very funny, but also warm and clever and with a genuine goodness about her. I will miss her on radio and television very, very much. My candle will soon be in the window.

Jack Harris, March 2006

Good lord, I was stunned when I heard that Linda had died and had to check it out to make sure I hadn't misread it (hoping desperately I had). I am so saddened to hear that she is no longer with us, she made me laugh so many times and was just far too young to go. It's very rare that I feel personally affected by the loss of someone I have never met, I guess that says something about Linda. Condolances to everyone who loved her, I'm sure there were many.

Kate, March 2006
