A very funny lady, stood well above the rest, very sorry she has died. Condolences to her family and friends. We will miss seeing her special wit and great humour. Lisa, March 2006 |

How very sad I only saw Linda a few times on TV. Im not a huge radio fan I feel now I ve missed out.. Love to her family and friends in trying to come to terms with the loss of such a humorous lady Michele Butler, March 2006 |

Came as a total surprise. Very sad news. She was a great talent. Thankfully, her work remains to remind us of her. Nick, March 2006 |

We were very upset to hear of Linda's death. We've missed her lately on the radio - she was astonishingly, spontaneously funny and often cheered us up by her surprising inventiveness and by not chasing cheap and predictable laughs. She had plenty of opportunities to be cynical but never was; instead, she struck us as principled and thought-provokingly witty. We miss her very much and send our condolences to her partner and close friends Ian and Ann Whybrow, March 2006 |

I feel very lucky to have known Linda (as a student and at the beginning of her career in Sheffield - her much repeated gag about her home town of Erith 'not being twinned with anywhere but having a suicide pact with Dagenham' started as a reference to Rotherham). Still makes me laugh all these years later. She was a remarkable woman with no 'side' to her; very kind, genuinely interested in other people. And funny. AG, March 2006 |

Too awful. I'm just a R4 listener, but loved Linda and her fantastically dry pokes at the general ridiculousness of life. I looked forward to hearing her on the News Quiz in the way you look forward to seeing the friends you like best. I hope it's some comfort to her real friends and family to know there are thousands of us out here who didn't know Linda, but were very fond of her and will miss her all the same. Elly, March 2006 |

Sometimes a person is so special that there just aren't the words when she's gone. Matt Taylor, March 2006 |
