Lee was exposed to the demands of showbiz at an early age. His father, entertainer Dave Evans, still performs at clubs and pier ends. As he says: "My brother and I grew up in digs, theatres and clubs. We used to sit in the back of the car or be stuck backstage taking to dancers while Dad was doing his act." After a spell as a boxer, and two years at art school in Essex, Lee decided to follow in his father's footsteps. The first four years were spent touring working men's clubs, the next five on the alternative circuit. Like a lot of now-established comics, his break came in 1988 at the Edinburgh Festival.

Lee Evans is fantastic. I have seen him live and have all his DVDs. Anybody who thinks he just acts and has a limited time left in comedy needs to question why he has been so successful for the past 22 year - it's because he is dynamic and very funny to lots of people! I just wish Lee would bring out an autobiography so that we can hear more about what must have been an interesting and eventful life to date! Vicky, January 2010 |

The most overrated comedian around! Why seemingly everyone out there loves this guy i have no idea its the same boring stuff over and over again in each stand-up routine. I think some people need to watch some other comedians before they decide Lee Evans is so good. Also the guy cannot improvise, just think why do you never see him on tv panel shows or even talking to the audience in his stand-up routines? He is just stuck on a script and that's what he does best, act. Just keep acting Lee your time in comedy is over. Stu, September 2009 |

Lee Evans is truly the best comedian! went to see him in Oxford in 08. there is much more than in other stand up comedy. cause he is so physical, can do voices, cool sounds and indeed he is an outstanding musician and a singer :) Love him to bits. Hana Vitkova, May 2009 |
