Kieran Hodgson plans a Liz Truss musical

After skewering Prince Andrew, comedian has Britain's shortest-serving PM in his sights

Kieran Hodgson is writing a musical about Liz Truss’s short-lived time as Prime Minister.

The comic previously  wrote Channel 4's Prince Andrew: The Musical, in which he also starred as the disgraced Royal alongside a cast of familiar comedy names.

And now he is turning his attention to Truss’s tumultuous premiership.

‘It’s a story with a perfect beginning, middle and end in our national consciousness that needs revisiting as often as possible,’ he told The List magazine.

‘It’s both hilarious and quite emblematic of the mess that the Establishment can create, but also the swiftness with which it can clear that mess away.’

The star of Two Doors Down says he also wants to make a show about HS2, saying: ‘I’ve kept my love of trains in reserve as a matter for discussion on stage, but there’s sufficient drama around that decision to justify doing something about it.’

Hodgson also has hopes of making his latest stand-up show,  Big In Scotland, into a sitcom. Nominated for the Edinburgh Comedy Award this year, the monologue describes him moving to Glasgow and trying to fit in with Scottish culture.

Hodgson was talking to The List after making No10 in their Hot 100 List of people with the biggest impact on Scotland’s artistic and culture scene.
