Singing stand-up Jason Wood’s died in February 2010 at the age of 38. His credits include the BBC One shows 29 Minutes Of Fame, Spy TV and the first series of Strictly Come Dancing. He held the dubious honour of being the first person ever voted off the show.

I was laughing hard, I was astounded by the singing. He pursuaded a roomful of normally difficult to win over Northampton punters to wave their hands in the air and hug their neighbours. This guy is really worth seeing.

I saw an unbilled Jason at Jongleurs in Watford last year on my stag night. I discovered a real talent that night. Although his act is very appealing to women I saw him win over the guys in the crowd too. An engaging pesonality and fantastic vocal range who doesn't deserve the patronising comparisons- he's a star in his own right and plenty of TV appearances beckon if he keeps his material fresh and his singing targets topical.

Saw Jason at BBC comedy night at Shepherds Bush and thought he was the funniest thing on (and the competition was stiff - Rich Hall, Al Murray and Danny La Rue to name a few)
