Good on him - Bicester is a a hard place to get laughs in - he did
Andrew - 25/11/2004
He's a good gag writer and a good improviser.
Chris - 08/04/2004
I saw Jem last week at the Comedy Cavern in Bath and to be honest was disappointed. Admittedly, he was overshadowed by the other two comedians who were brilliant, but I felt Jem never got the audience on his side. He had some good jokes, but he seemed more interested in talking to individuals rather than pleasing the crowd. He looked awkward and made the audience feel the same way.
Sean Smith - 25/08/2003
I have seen Jem twice now and he had me laughing all the time. He's a great guy.
Lloyd Stephens - 13/05/2003
Jem has some very good gags and works hard and puts himself on the line with his improv. Does loads of gigs and turns up with a smile always on his face. That sounds like a good comedian to have around.
Chris Brooker - 11/05/2003
I first saw Jem at the opening of Clap & Tickle last summer. Thought he was good then. Saw him last week at the Balloon in Manchester and thought he was brilliant. Comic of the night hands down with some great material delivered brilliantly. The red army marches on!
Phil Klein - 04/03/2003
Having seen him at the Comedy Brewhouse many times, there's no question that he's a good compere and improvisor.
Nik Coppin - 30/01/2003
Jem seems to be consolidating his great improv ability, compering experience and gags rather nicely these days. Also, what many people forget is that the 'Parrot-Headed Midget' can get through a whole cuttlefish and an entire bag of trill in between his gags during a mere ten minute set. That's no mean feat,
Paul - 26/01/2003
Perhaps he culd tell a joke a two? Or look up comedian in the dictionary? Or get a job as a bouncer? Where, if he is too insulting or sarcastic to a punter he can be fairly thumped.
Richard - 23/01/2003
This man has a mind sharper than an Enigma machine, as well as having a nice wardrobe of pink and purple shirts.
Mike Belgrave - 01/11/2002
Jem's a great comedian, great improviser and a great guy. Always a pleasure to see him on the circuit.
Alice B - 15/07/2002
Jem is great! Luv his impro
J Bernadette - 07/04/2002
If ever there was someone desperate to be a 'stand-up', its this bloke, bless him. Evidently smart but without strong funny bones.
Graeme Casey - 02/04/2002
Don't be fooled by stage presence, the man has a mind working, sometimes quickly. I've seen his skill in getting laughs for the daftest things and that makes working with him a joy.
Nat - 12/03/2002
He's great at improv, which as you all know is a lot harder than it looks
Utopia - 12/03/2002
I think Jem rocks. His cnfidence is something that all comedians should take a look at
Leigh - 08/03/2002
The few times I've seen him, he's looked and sounded as pissed as a fart - or is this meant to be deliberate?
Tara - 01/03/2002
I've only seen him a few times, but Jem's problem is that he has no stage presence whatsoever - it's like watching a man waiting for a bus. His material isn't going to save him either, and I really think if he's still struggling to make people laugh after so many gigs, it's time to call it a day.
Gary Delaney - 01/02/2002
Brookesey has a nice line in gags and isn't at all bad at the impro he also does(unusual mix). His bees wax gag is great, wish I'd written it.
Danny James - 30/01/2002
He's unique. How many ginger blokes do you know have had there arms up a cow's arse,eh?
Maxie - 27/01/2002
I've seen Brookes countless times now, and he doesn't get any better. He seems like a nice bloke and he's got a few good gags, but most times he dies on his arse, which isn't good if you've been going as long as him.
Dave - 25/01/2002
The comments in the review are fair, but Jem's a great advert for dertermination and hard work. It'll probably be another 300 gigs before he's getting paid, but I'm sure he'll make it. He needs to start ploughing through some new material though, he's had the same gags for years.
Kate - 22/01/2002
Relative newcomer? The guy's done nearly 300 gigs!
