Geoff Aymer Geoff Aymer

A genial enough stage presence and a few moderately amusing observations make Aymer a watchable comic - even though his material lacks any real punch.

His biggest failing is that much of his material echoes thoughts most of us have had at one time or another - and he spells out every step of his thinking to get there, by which time the punchlines are glaring predictable.

He would be better advised to credit his audience with a little intelligence, and confound their expectations now and again, rather than joining the dots to the inevitable.

Aymer also performs a dismal character act as Rex Carmichael. He's a Barry White-style love god - a fifth-rate rip-off of Lenny Henry's Theopolus P. Wildebeeste - who trades in brain-numbingly obvious double entendres and ancient knob gags.
