Saw Des Sharples trying new material at Comedy Store and thought he was very funny and natural. He's got a cheekiness that is cute.

Debbie D., January 2012

The worst MC in the world. Mirth On Monday has died because of him yet when you see him do a set, it's like a different comedian. Easy, chatty friendly and very very funny. Go see him in a club.

Vicky, April 2011

A very funny man. Great delivery, great with the audience and very witty material. Sharples style may not be trendy but that's what makes him stand out for right reasons. It'd be nice to see Des Sharples try his hand with an Edinburgh Festival show someday.

Alan, January 2011

I think that Des Sharples is a stand-up bloke, keeps the crowd interested and generally fills an evening with mirth!

Anonymous, July 2010

Des strengths may not be in his MCing, but when it comes to doing sets he is fantastic. He has played support sets at all my clubs and has never let me down. Very enjoyable and a lovely way about him onstage.

Lee Martin, July 2010

Des has headlined for me four times, with a fifth date coming up. You know when you book him that he'll be reliable and deliver the goods, he's got that invaluable talent of becoming instantly liked by an audience. Good, clever, well crafted and nicely delivered material make him the quality act he is.

Mike Taylor, July 2010

As well as being a naturally funny man, Des is also a true gent with a real passion for the comedy circuit. One of the biggest supporters of new acts in the North West and a fine act in his own right.

Kev Bland, April 2009

Des looked ill at ease at the Blue Cat on Sunday and although there were several genuinely funny moments I am not sure whether he had sufficient material for his set, or that he was sufficiently focussed. Maybe he is naturally edgy but, the memory routine aside, there were too many sections where he seemed to have lost the audience. On reflection, although 50 per of his set was genuine laugh-out-loud material, I was left feeling that this was a guy who was a little spaced out. I'd say it was just an off day but he was much the same when trying out a new character at Bar XS a month or two ago.
