Original Review: At his best, Dan Evans is reminiscent of Harry Hill – but with none of the extravagant vaudevillian showmanship. His material is just as silly and playful, but is delivered in low-key conversational style. In this pared-down context, you might think such contrived jokes could come across as cheesy, but Evans has enough affability to get away with it – at least most of the time. And when the occasional line doesn’t quite hit home, you don’t have to wait long for one that does. His inspiration comes from daft, semi-surreal timewasting – playing Buckaroo with a cat, or devising pointless games involving crisp packets and road maps of Kent – just the sort of ideas those with too much time on their hands might be tempted to try at home. Brighton-based Evans is also an experienced compere, and even in his set he’s happy to step out of the constraints of the script and chat with the audience. He’s competent at this, but his forte is definitely the well-constructed, underplayed nonsense of his core material that provides him with a more-than solid act. |

Saw him at the fat cat comedy club, Bury St Edmunds. Fantastic act fully engaging had the audience loving his delivery and material. Masterful mark, November 2008 |

Yep, have to agree with the previous comment. Dan headlined for me a couple of months back - his professionalism shone through as he switched from one crazy subject to another. Great audience interaction, too Jan Jack, March 2008 |

Caught this guy at Outside the Box and he's pretty special. Very experienced and it shows - plays with crazy ideas and has the guts to step outa routine and chat to the audience. Fine, fine stuff. Michael Monkhouse, December 2007 |

saw in Hereford, solid performance as usual, never lets you down colin the courtyard king, May 2007 |
|
Saw Dan at our small club in York on March 25 and loved him. He certainly has a slight 'Harry Hill' edge to his act which included some surreal observations and situations which I loved. Very very good. Ben Cartwright, March 2007 |
|
Pretty much the most under-rated act I've worked with in 12 years. A really nice bloke with some of the best material on the circuit. Over-analytical offstage, but I'd trust him with any audience. Really very, very good. Silky, January 2007 |
|
A master of his craft. Want to learn how it's done then watch this comic. A relaxed performer who always appears as if he could easily go up a gear or two if needed. jug, January 2007 |
