Original Review:A newcomer who’s cutting his teeth hosting a regular Newcastle Uni gig, Chris Martin offers a solid stand-up set, with close attention to gags.
First on his agenda is obviously the matter of his name, wearily dismissing the coincidence that he shares it with the Coldplay frontman. That leads smoothly on to a more distinctive discourse on people’s names and beyond, which might initially seem unpromising, but ultimately yields some surprisingly efficient lines.
It’s a tight, well structured and funny set, and even if some material threatens to verge on the bland, the fact he sounds and acts like a much more established comic gives an audience confidence in him

Show - Edinburgh Fringe 2006 -
Saw him at The Comedy Tree in Wimbledon. An OK compere but was completely thrown off when he asked a member of the audience a question and found out she was gay. He literally went blank and moved on to someone else. Was uncomfortable to watch. Come on it's 2009!?!
A pragmatic air without being two haughty or arragont with it, Chris brings a lightness of touch to his routine knowing the material is strong enough to ensure strong laughs throughout his time on stage. It's worth noting his mainstream appeal beyond the Student Gig Clique many would limit him to.
Saw him this Edinburgh at Three Comedians For The Price of None - a brilliant compere for the event, Chris is really, really funny. So much so, I came out of the show texting everyone I know to go and see him. He's especially good at off-the-cuff banter with the audience, he is going to be HUGE.
Already a painfully funny bastard, i'm woried at how rapidly he's improving. Even sweared words can't justify this funny bastard.
Saw him at Edinburgh in The Good, The Bad and The Ugly - very much the only thing that saved the show. Loved the John Lewis gag.
Not only a good comic in the technical sense, but also someone who loves comedy. He has such a passion for it and is a prolific writer to say the least. If he doesn't make it big I'll be surprised.
