Blimey! Saw him at the XS Malarkey 11th Birthday gig this week. All I can say is that it was a *surreal* experience.

Chris's show was reviewed by the Guardian thus: 'Surreal unhinged quality which makes for comic greatness'. Chris Lynam is a major talent and is recognised as such. Live with it.

I rarely feel moved to add comments on here, but this review is a major injustice to a phenomonal performer. I booked him blind as I like an occasional gamble and while I can see that maybe an hour in a theatre may be a bit much, last night at a packed Derby Funhouse he absolutely ripped the roof off and many of our most die-hard comedy-savvy regulars said he was the best act we've ever had at the club. Should be headlining every major club in the land.

Must be brutally honest and say I didn't enjoy this act. While I agree that comedy should be for everyone. He acted like a clown smashing bottles in the front row with his antics. It's a thumbs down from me but I will say you may want to see him and you won't forget him.

Chris Lynam still has more energy than any other act on the circuit. He's taken clowning to a sublime level of genius. Still blazing away after all these years and still truly unique. He gets his teeth right into his audience and gives gives gives. You'll never see anything like this, it's breathtaking. His XS Malarkey gig in Manchester recently proved he's still got it (then proceeds to rip it to smithereens!). Watch and learn guys, watch and learn.

If a five-year-old jumped up on stage making weird noises and mumbling incoherant jokes whilst throwing peoples shoes would that be funny? This bloke is atrocious, he is pretty lucky to have been able to dupe people into thinking he's some kind of genius. The show I saw him in half the audience left, the only ones laughing were two children and that was more from embarrassment.

The fact that he's made a career out of being awkward is fantastic, Also, at times, genuinely unnerving. Let's hope there's more to come. Miranda 21.12.05 Chris is fantasticaly funny, one of the best performers I have ever seen. He was on fire at the Popcorn Club and the night promises to improve with age. Adam Taffler 02.12.05 I saw Chris on stage at the Glasgow Merchant City Festival, Both my seven year old and I laughed our little socks off. He is a mixture of many things but mostly unique and so so so funny. Go and see Chris if you can, he lightens up my days thinking of his humour, I am sure he will do likewise for you. Miles Baigent 06.10.05 Saw him a while back headlining a pub night in London. I hope for his sake that he was just having an off night because he was simply the worst comedian I've ever paid money to see. The other comedians came off as comic geniuses beside him. Deeply, deeply unfunny, even the groupies who'd come to see him especially were disappointed by the end. Not one I shall be looking out for in the future Rob 05.10.05 Fantastic, unique and entertaining. The only people that dont find this guy funny are the types who like all their comedy the same, unwilling to accept that adults can laugh at clowns too! Excellent excellent excellent Paul Jameson 05.10.05 Absolutely fantastic stuff. I howled all the way through. Especially liked it when he did his impersonation of a bird dropping and jumped on the photographer. Fab! Gemma 02.10.05 Go see Chris Lynam! Excellent. Rob Riley 09.09.05 I have to say I have seen this guy twice now (the second time by accident)and he is just not funny. We saw him in July at the 99 Club in London and were thankful of an opportunity to walk out as his act sunk deeper and deeper in to the abyss. Go if you want but you have been warned Jon 01.08.05 I can't get enough of him - he's hilarious! I always recommend him to friends as he is absolutely unforgettable. Check him out for yourselves. Drew Tibble 31.05.05 I think Chris is ace. I could watch his act 100 times over and not get bored, one of my favourites. Barry Dodds 12.05.05
