Catherine Semark at the 2009 Funny Women final
Though a relative newcomer, well-spoken Catherine Semark has understated elegance and quiet confidence, that draws the audience in – even though her routine is based entirely on her response to the T-shirt boasting ‘Well, it won’t such itself’.
Sarah Millican’s previously used the lewd slogan as a punchline, but Semark manages not only to find her own track, but also makes a silk purse out of this sow’s purse of an idea, cuttingly mocking the idiot she saw wearing it, and extending this simple observation into a surprisingly classy routine. Semark has yet to fully develop as a comedian, but she shows promising signs of being able to do so

Sought her show out this year after being very impressed in 2010. Not disappointed at all; still as intelligently witty, articulate and can make an hour last for 15 minutes. Only surprise is that her show is still free.
A voice like velvet and a warm persona that draws you in almost instantly. Great caustic asides too. Surprise gem of the fringe and a great way to start the afternoon - and it's free!
Saw her at the fringe this weekend and absolutely loved her! Would definitely recommend the show!
I want to say "intelligent comedy" but that might alienate people from the "twat" end of her spectrum and she's appealing to all levels. I'll just say I'd rather give £10 to her than to a doctor or a priest because an hour with her will do you much more good.
Top of the class! Whatever your age, if you went to school you will love Catherine Semark's kooky curriculum comedy! Give her a gold star, in fact, make it five! Top Marks!
Semark is the cool aunt of Fringe comedy, brilliantly funny and intelligent her show was thoroughly enjoyable!
Must see! For everyone.
Very charming and genuinely funny. Strongly recommended. Not a dull moment in the whole show. Lovely.
