Chambers & Nettleton
Real name: Lynn Chambers and Sally Nettleton
|
Before their friendship turned into the only female double act on the live comedy circuit, Lynn Chambers was a cruise-ship singer and performer and writer of comedy revues while Sally Nettleton went from drama school into acting, began improvising characters and then moved into stand-up. They have appeared at the Edinburgh Fringe three times, in 1999, 2001 and 2002 and hosted the Gay Pride rally in Trafalgar Square in 2005. |

Chambers and Nettleton are a fun and charming duo. Their gags often lack the necessary punch, and the banter which they slip into very easily with the audience occasionally sidetracks their act. I think their biggest weakness is lack of any real distinction between them as on-stage characters. Because of this, their act lacks a certain dynamic. Nevertheless, if you see them compering on a bill, go along and get a laugh. They're guaranteed to get you going and properly warm you up. Alain English, April 2007 |

Seen them a few times and must admit to having been impressed. Saw them encore at the Buzz a couple of years ago and they were on in the middle - which is unheard of. Caught them last weekend compering Jongluers in Oxford and they were fantastic. There was no air conditioning and the room was very hot and the last thing we felt like doing was laughing but they were really funny. The first guy on died the death but the girls came back on and soon got us all laughing again. All my mates were really impressed too - funny lasses - who would have thought? Ballsy too - and a bit sexy! Jenksy, April 2007 |

oO awful, I have had the horrid experience of seeing them twice at Jongleurs and they were by far and away the worst comperes I have ever seen. They are amateur amateurs Terry Harrison, April 2007 |

I must say, I too was very surprised to read your review on Chambers and Nettleton. I have seen these two in action several times and I find them such a breath of fresh air. Very very talented. They are extremely amusing with such an incredible stage presence - they are a joy to watch! I most certainly look forward to seeing them again. Sandra Fawcett, April 2007 |

I've seen Chambers and Nettleton a few times on the circuit and they just get better. Very very funny, catch them before they hit the big time. Top compares too. Scott Elliott, April 2007 |

I saw Chambers and Nettleton last week and thought they were fantastic - I will definitely look out for them again. sarah cairns, April 2007 |

These girls are hilarious and the best double act I've ever seen. I saw them recently and they were given a well deserved encore. I was a little surprised to read your negative comments about their Muslim material which was much more comprehensive than your review implies with points raised about how uneasy we feel when we see women wearing the full burka and the different approaches Muslim and western women take when it comes to covering and uncovering. All done to hilarious effect. Not only funny but great warmth and stage presence too. I wouldn't be surprised if they make it big very soon. Rich Dee, April 2007 |
