A thin veneer of 'comedy' forms an eggshell around a very insecure-seeming man. Couldn't relax during his act due to the white noise of self-hate-battling ego which emanates from this man.

Absolutely genius, The Einstein of comedy! He is set for great things.

Boothby is an amazing guy. His comedy is fantastic, he is incredibly sexy and he makes the cutest jokes about animals and his children.

A great performer, genuinely engaging and likeable. 'Ad-libbing' with the band was a little bit stilted, but I guess that's why they're musicians not actors.

Needs to concentrate more on the bits between the songs - they're the funniest bits. Fewer songs, more adlibbing would be better.

He has a lovely set of teeth and made some nice jokes about cats.

I've seen him for three years in Edinburgh. First time was killer - sharp; inventive; great songs. Second time less good - he was less than sober and a bit manic, which can be funny but not for a whole hour, and not when your expectations are high. Last year, he was complacent - lots of the same material and the same "ad libbing" as the year before; completely pointless last ten minutes involving a large set which he couldn't quite get right. Undoubtedly very talented, but needs better direction. Might give his show one more try next year to see if it improves. I did see the show this year in Edinburgh and it was something of a return to form. Lorenzo Wood 16.11.04
