Adrian Poynton
Adrian Poynton began his career as a comedian by making the finals of the Daily Telegraph Open Mic Award 1999 and Hackney Empire New Act Of The Year 2001. He won a Fringe First award in 2003 for his play based on Graham Chapman's life, A Very Naughty Boy.
In 2011, he created hite Van Man, which had the most-watched launch episode for a sitcom on BBC Three. It was dropped after two series, but picked up by America's ABC network for a remake called Family Tools.

Reviews
Original Review:
With his dynamic stage presence that can energise the most moribund of crowds, Poynton certainly has the art of delivery licked.
And his offbeat material's pretty good too, as he brings to life experiences that, though peculiar to him, are never oblique nor self-indulgent.
It's his open and gregarious manner, though, that is his forte - making the very best from his quirky observations. Date of review: May 2001

An affable demeanour driven by a passion enthused delivery, Poynton creates a riveting set while avoiding the perils of intimidation or brow-beating polemics or other acts meeting his stature. Always a joy

Saw this guy last night in Putney and would have been happy to watch just him. Haven't laughed that hard at a comic in ages. Funny, funny man.

This guy is awesome, made me a regular at the Cellar Bar (Bracknell), being a compere. Brilliant banter with the audience

Loved it! Made me laugh so hard drink came out my nose. When did he get so good? Had seen him before and thought he was ok but saw him last week and he has just got sooooooo good

One of the best comics i have ever seem. Refuses to go for the easy kind of gags so many others do. And boy does he have love for his crowd. You can't help but feel happy in his company. Will see him again!

Saw him do an amazing show in Plymouth when everything was against a performer doing well but he was just superb. Improv and banter at its best

Performed in front of a pathetic turn out at the Barbican Theatre Plymouth (11 people) still made me laugh. Very quick. Seemed to be more at home involved in banter with the audience

One of the best comedy storytellers i have ever seen.

Fantastic. Clever, original and just really, really funny.

Saw him last night at Swansea uni and he rocked. He is a funny, funny man

He was the headline act tonight in Newcaslte but got a big loud boo from the crowd at the end of the night, he never really connected with them and most of his punchlines fell on deaf ears. I'm sure he ended his act early. He should have tried harder with the crowd instead of going off and heckling an innocent man in the audience for the first 5 minutes.

A comic genius

Amazing, saw him at Hyena in Newcastle and he made my sides hurt. Clever, exciting and full of warmth for the crowd. Very, very funny.
Graeme - 01/02/2004
Very disappointing. He seemed distracted by a pair of breasts in the audience and continued with very weak material after that. If I wanted that kind of humour I'd go buy the Daily Star.
Paul Vittles - 07/07/2003
He obviously likes a challenge, sharing a bill with Jerry Sadowitz in York. I didn't think he was that funny but he handled himself well and, with the right material, I can see him making it.

Saw him compere at Amused Moose New Material Night the other week - very funny! Had me in stitches

Very good presence and quick on his feet. I watched him successfully battle a rowdy crowd after I'd just died on my arse. I'd see him again.
