Comedians enter the Twilight zone

Vampire comedy-drama for BBC Scotland

Comics Greg McHugh, Ford Kiernan, Karen Dunbar and Cariad Lloyd are to star in a new four-part Halloween comedy-drama.

They form the cast of Legend Of The Holyrood Vampires – written by novelist and occasional stand-up AL Kennedy – which will air on BBC Radio Scotland.

Set in Edinburgh in 1844, Lloyd takes the lead as vampire-slayer Victoria Van Helsing. Poduced by Glasgow-based The Comedy Unit, the show airs across four days from Monday October 28 to Thursday October 31 at 1.30pm.

The station has also commissioned a documentary in which comedian and actress Elaine C Smith enrols on the ‘charm school’ training than more than 10,000 Glaswegians have been sent on in preparation for next summer’s Commonwealth Games.

Jeff Zycinksi, head of radio for BBC Scotland, said: ‘As Glasgow cranks up the preparations for the Commonwealth Games, it’s a good time to pick up the story of the volunteers who will play a big role in the event. Back To Charm School is one of many programmes we’ll be airing to make sure our audiences get the most out of the Commonwealth Games experience.’

The co airs on Thursday November 7.
