About Us

About us

Chortle was set up by in 2000 with the aim of being the most comprehensive, critical and up-to-date guide to the all aspects of comedy in Britain. Today, the site is the premier source of comedy news, reviews and listings and attracts around 180,000 unique visitors every month.

For the latest news you can follow us on Twitter, or sign up to our weekly digest for a round-up of the last seven days delivered to your in-box every Friday.

Stand-up listings

One of our priority is to keep up-to-date information on all the comedy gigs we know of.

If you run a gig, the quickest way of adding listings to the site is to use this online form. Anything submitted this way is subject to approval (please read the instructions as to what we want!) and usually added within a few hours during normal working times.

Alternatively, you can email listings@chortle.co.uk. We endeavour to get all these listings up as quickly as possible but cannot guarantee it – it will always be quicker to use the form.

If you are a attending a show, do be aware that things do change, often and the last minute, and the line-up we list may differ from who actually appears. If in doubt, check before travelling.

To submit listings information, email listings@chortle.co.uk

Comedians

Comedians' profile pages are added at Chortle's discretion, and we will rarely add a new page unless it is to accommodate a new review or it is for an established comedian we have previously overlooked. Likewise, biographies are written by Chortle, though they are based on official information supplied by the act or their agent.

Advertising and syndication

For an advertising ratecard, or syndication rights, please emailsteve@chortle.co.uk

Tickets and products

We are associates of various ticketing agencies and online retailers, including Ticketmaster, See Tickets, Amazon, Waterstones, Ticketweb and WeGot Tickets, which enables us to offer books, videos, CDs and tickets for sale. If you buy anything, you are buying from these companies, not from Chortle. So, should you have any queries about an order, please contact the relevant company.
