American broadcaster Epix has released the first trailer of its series based on Elmore Leonard's novel Get Shorty.

IT Crowd star Chris O’Dowd plays the lead role of Miles Daly, a henchman for a murderous crime ring in Nevada who attempts to become a movie producer, laundering money through a Hollywood film.

In the book the character is called Chili Palmer, and was played by John Travolta in the 1995 movie version.

Everybody Loves Raymond's Ray Romano co-stars in the new TV version as Rick, a washed up producer of low quality films who becomes Miles’ partner. This character was originally called Harry Zimm and played by Gene Hackman in the series.

The ten-episode series premieres in the States on Sunday August 13.
